PICS OF MY WORK

This is the first thing i made in ceramics this semester. I made a mug last semester it was all fine until when i glazed it with the glaze i made it was a totally nightmare. i couldnt even remember what number i was on with firing cause every time is just kept having bubbles that where sharp. so i just had enough of it and just went to move on something else. i made this one is turn out okay but i just dont like the heart.

I like the glaze and everything but the only probeln is its way to dark. but this mug i didnt have any problems with the glaze. LOL

This is the side of the mug where i indented my name. you cant really see Renee that well cause like i said before the glaze came out to dark.

In class we was assigned to make something that was gonna be for a garden. i didnt know really what to make. At first i wanted to make a flower but it didnt turn out the way i thought it would of. so then i just made a base and a mushroom. i also but i heart on one side.

so like i said i have bad luck with glazes. so i had one of my friends paint the garden piece. i like how she put littl white dots on the top of the mushroom.

this is when my friend and i went to take some pictures of our art work and then she took a picture of me. LOL......

My friend caught me off guard. LOL i look really funny!!!

Just another day filled with surprises and disappointment.
as we was unloading the kiln my friend couldnt find her piece that she made. So So Sad!!! but we still had lots of fun unloading the kiln and seeing what other people made. there was a lot of cool things that looked like someone famous made.

this was so fun to make. it took me a couple time to get da final peice done. this was in the low fire kiln. then i put the peice in the high fire kiln and it didnt turn out how i like it. so now im making a new one and htis time im gonna put it in the low firing.

this is me working on a peice. i was not aware of this picture being taken.

this is the piece that i was wroking on when my friend took a picture. i used that rock to make the piece shiny but when i fired it. it didnt tun out shiny i think i shouldnt put it in the kiln. where the heart is im gonna put glass and put it in the high firing.

Raku

This kind of firing is so neat. i dont like painting my work so by having a Raku firing would be my thing. i love how it looks all mactallic. it also has my favorite color blue. LOL

This Raku firing was done by somebody named Renee. LOL its not me. it kinda funny that we have the same name and its spelled the same way. i love how there are swirls and still have the blue color.

This piece is really neat. I love that every raku firing there is also some kind of blue color. in this piece its a dark blue. i think this piece is also neat because for there is different colors. i dont like it how its not really shinny.

some artist for a Raku firing are the following:
  • Hong Rubinstein
  • David Roberts
  • Gary Freguson

History:

Raku is a 400 year old clay firing tradition originating with the Japanese Tea Ceremonies. A ceramic technique was founded in Japan by Raku Chojiro over 450 years ago.
In theoriginal technique the glazed pottery is taken hot from the kiln and set outside to cool and oxidize.Glazes are subtle whites, blacks and crackles.

Garden Ceramics

This dog is so cute. its a neat way for garden things. this look like it took a long time to make. i like the colors and how they put tall plants in front of the dog. it like its alomst camoflage. lol

i like how there is all different sizes and mostly just circles, squares, and triangles. i made an stepping stone before but not like this. im gonna try to make one and lets see how it turns out. lol

This is a great way to make a garden colorful. i like how there are different sizes of ceramic peices.
